I am a born and bred South African who loves the African bush and the wildlife that abounds in this part of the world. I have been a Nikon shooter since 2008, and consider myself an enthusiastic amateur. I spend as much time as I can in remote areas, nature reserves and game parks.
As they say — work is for those who don’t own a camera!
I only shoot in natural light — in fact I do not even own any flash equipment. I always attempt to capture the best in-camera image possible. I use standard Nikon software to do minor adjustments of horizon, exposure, colour balance, sharpening and sizing.
Wildlife photography in early morning and late afternoon light requires long, fast glass and low-light capable camera bodies. My camera bag consists essentially of:
Nikon D4S
Nikon D4
Nikon D810
Nikon D800
Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8
Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8
Nikkor 200-400 mm f/4
Nikkor 400 mm f/2.8
Nikkor 600 mm f/4
The vast majority of my images have been captured while on photo-safari with Lou and Veronica Coetzer and their partner Neal Cooper at Coetzer Nature Photography.
Lou, Veronica and Neal are renowned and recognised wildlife/nature photographers and their encouragement, mentorship and friendship is hereby acknowledged.
